Welcome to Cafetería El Tío Chato, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Gran Alacant, Alicante. This charming cafe is the perfect spot to unwind, offering not just a delightful menu but a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like home.

As you step inside, you'll be greeted by the friendly faces of the owners, including the ever-sympathetic Jenni, who ensures that each guest feels welcomed. The open, airy design of the café, coupled with an inviting ambiance, creates the ideal setting for enjoying a leisurely morning or a peaceful afternoon break.

The highlight of your visit will undoubtedly be the remarkable café con leche. Many patrons, like Enid del Campo, rave about it, calling it the best in Gran Alacant. Paired with a slice of toast topped with fresh tomato, it's a simple yet divine experience that your taste buds will thank you for.

For those seeking a more substantial meal, make sure to try their delicious bocatas (sandwiches). The focus on quality ingredients shines through with items like a freshly made bocata de lomo fresco enhanced with homemade mayonnaise, all nestled between crusty, freshly baked bread. The prices, as noted by Estherilla, are incredibly manageable, especially when compared to other eateries in the region, making it a true find for budget-conscious diners who appreciate quality.

With wonderfully generous portions and flavors that transport you to culinary bliss, the café proudly serves homemade tapas that echo the heart of Spanish cuisine. And as Michel Rodríguez illustrates, the family-owned essence of the café is evident in every bite, from the well-crafted ensaladilla rusa to the quality of their daily baked bread.

Conveniently located at the upper corner of the Thursday Market, Cafetería El Tío Chato is an ideal stopping point either before a scenic walk to the nearby lighthouse or a stroll across the picturesque campo to Santa Pola. Its vibrant surroundings evoke a sense of community, making it a beloved watering hole for both locals and visitors alike.

In conclusion, whether you’re in for a quick coffee or a leisurely bite, Cafetería El Tío Chato promises a delightful experience that blends delectable food with a cozy atmosphere, driven by heartfelt service. Don't miss out on this opportunity to savor the authentic tastes of Spain in a charming setting!

Almost the last watering hole before the walk to the lighthouse or across the campo to Santa Pola, An open airy bar on the upper corner of the Thursday Market, (now moved to lower G.A.) and serves the "car boot sale" on Sundays.
